GFA Appoints Eric Bekoe as U-19 Assistant Coach

Former Asante Kotoko striker Eric Bekoe, has been named assistant coach of the newly established national U-19 male team, as confirmed by the Ghana Football Association (GFA).

The 37 years old, who began his coaching career several years ago, previously served as head coach for Division Two side Montreal United FC in 2021.

The GFA expressed confidence in Bekoe’s expertise and positive energy, emphasizing how it complements the leadership of experienced coach Abdul Karim Zito.

This appointment aligns with the GFA’s strategic focus on nurturing young Ghanaian talent, providing a clear developmental pathway for emerging players within the country.

Zito’s appointment brings a rich tapestry of experience and tactical prowess to his latest endeavor. His notable feats encompass winning the U20 WAFU Championship in 2020 and claiming the U20 Africa Cup of Nations title in 2021, showcasing his adeptness in shaping emerging talents into formidable contenders on the global platform.

Concurrently serving as the coach of Dreams FC, where he orchestrates their remarkable journey in the CAF Confederation Cup, Zito is poised to cultivate budding talent and instill a culture of unwavering excellence across all national teams. Zito’s appointment also represents a natural progression, having previously served as the head coach of the national U-15 and U-17 teams, Zito is well-versed in the intricacies of youth football development.
