GFA awaits CAF’s decision on stadiums after inspection

The Ghana Football Association are “waiting for CAF” on their verdict following their inspection of Accra and Cape Coast stadiums for the 2024 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.

Sources have revealed that CAF inspectors were in Ghana over the weekend, to inspect the two facilities upon the request of the Ministry of Sports

The Baba Yara Sports Stadium, which hosted Ghana’s last game against Angola, has been banned by CAF “due to the poor quality of the pitch.”

At the #SaveGhanaFootball probe before Parliament’s Sports Select Committee on Monday, September 30, Kurt Okraku said that the final decision now rests with CAF.

“Mr. Chairman, we are waiting for CAF. We have done the hard work, we are waiting for CAF. The experts within us have been there and I would say that I will not comment on their report to me. I will wait for CAF to speak” he said.

The Black Stars come up against Sudan on October 11, hoping for their first win of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers after picking up one point from two matches.

Ghana suffered a 1-0 defeat to Angola before a 1-1 draw against Niger, leaving them third in Group F.
