The Ghana Football Association (GFA) President, Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku has served notice to fans of various football teams in the Ghana Premier League of “No vaccination, No entry” to stadiums in the 2021/2022 season.
Mr. Okraku made this known in his address at the 27th normal session of congress at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence at Prampram last Thursday, October 28, 2021.
“We are engaging government to ensure we have more fans accessing our games but one of the key requirements will be the need for all of us to ensure we are vaccinated to be able to access football.
“So what that means is that all our players and staff will be vaccinated. Indeed that process has started, and all football fans who will want to access our games live at the various stadia, must prove they have received vaccination,” he said.
Tackling Hooliganism
In another development, the GFA President reiterated his outfit willingness to stop the continuation of hooliganism in the Ghana Premier League.
Mr. Okraku expressed his utmost concern about the misconduct of fans during matches in the 2020-2021 league season.
“I think over the last season, we did our maximum by educating the fans and we will continue to intensify the educational drive this season which hopefully will help in minimising the act” he said.
He added, “We cannot prevent misunderstanding wholesomely from football but when it happens, there are rules that one has to follow. It is important people understand that there are always three results in the game: a win, a draw and a loss.
“And when it is that you are not happy about any of these, there are laid down procedures to express your concern and we must respect these procedures we have rather than taking up to violence”.
