GFA Ready for Anas Exposé
The President of the Ghana Football Association says his outfit, like most Ghanaians, is waiting to see what next investigator, Anas Amereyaw Anas, will prove in his upcoming expose.
According to the GFA president, as head of Ghana football, he should be and is interested in whatever affects the sport in the country and thus awaits the latest project of Anas which is reportedly on politics and football.
“I have not done anything untoward to be afraid of an Anas, expose. If anything at all, whatever he brings out can help us all to find out what is really happening: whether Nyantakyi is corrupt as has been the perception all this while,” Mr Nyantakyi said.
Last week on Metro TV’s Good Morning Ghana, hosted by former GFA spokesperson Randy Abbey, the editor in chief of the New Crusading Guide and a partner of Anas hinted that the undercover journalist’s latest investigative piece to be premiered on June 6, centred on corruption in politics and football, a revelation that most observers believe has made people particularly in football circles nervous.
However, Mr Nyantakyi told the Graphic Sports in a telephone interview from Morocco yesterday that he could not wait to find out what the ace investigator has come up with.
The GFA president further rubbished claims that some top FA officials had run out of the country for fear of revelations by Anas when his newest investigative documentary titled ‘Number 12′ is premiered in Accra and other selected cities in Ghana.
“So far as I know, no FA official has left the country over that.
“The only two people I know are out of Ghana at the moment is my good self and the General Secretary, Isaac Addo. Both of us are on official CAF duties.’’
“I ended a meeting in Morocco and incidentally, Mr Addo was also in Casablanca as General Coordinator for the Raja Casablanca v AS Vita of Congo Confed Cup Group A game over the weekend. We are both returning latest by Thursday.
“Running football is not a full-time job for the GFA Executive Committee so if someone travels to do his private business, how does that amount to running away?
“For anyone to suggest that we are running away is pure mischief,”Mr Nyantakyi stressed.’’
The General Secretary also said his absence had not affected the function or operations at the FA as the structures in place ensured that work was not held up in his absence as the head.
“The secretariat is functioning. two deputy general secretaries, as well as members of the GFA Emergency Committee, are there to support, so it is not true that top officials have run away or our absence has left the FA not functing. It is open for duty.”
