The Ghana Highway Authority (GHA) will from Friday, February 21, 2020 commence maintenance work on the Ashaiman- Klagon underpass.
The GHA announced the commencement of work via a public announcement released on Tuesday, a copy of which was forwarded to Adomonline.com.
The announcement said work was expected to be completed by Monday, February 24, 2020.
The GHA’s announcement comes days after the National Road Safety Authority (NRSA) had threatened to sanction them if they failed to comply with safety rules and repair the faulty bridge.
The Ashaiman underpass was classified a public safety threat after its structural integrity was marred by an overload truck which rammed into its Accra-bound section.
Heeding to the safety directives, GHA is forewarning Ghanaians, motorists and pedestrians of a divergence in routes leading to the motorway to facilitate the 4-day maintenance work.
Commuters from Nungua to Ashiaman are advised to use the Community 18 through Motorway to Ashaiman Overhead or better still the Tema Motorway Roundabout.
Ashaiman to Nungua commuters are expected to use the Community 9 Hospital Road through Community 3 to Tema Beach Road OR Motorway to Tetteh Quarshie Interchange.
