GHALCA G8 Tourney: Aduana Reach Semi-Finals
Premier League champions, Aduana Stars, yesterday beat Eleven Wonders 3-1 at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium to qualify for the semi-finals of the ongoing GHALCA G8 tournament.
A header by Bright Adjei in the 42nd minute, Noah Martey in the 44th and Oba Inkama Ulitch in the 70th minute gave Aduana a convincing win over Wonders.
A splendid display of artistry by Noah Martey of Aduana attracted thunderous applause from supporters after striking a shot from the corner line straight into the post, swerving the Wonders goalkeeper who thought he was sending a pass to his teammate.
Players of Wonders, especially Wahab Abdul and Benjamin Owusu, mounted intense pressure with the aim of trying to equalise but all came to naught.
When referee Samuel Leelee Jnr whistled for hostilities to begin in the second half, both teams made resounding statements with forceful play and clear intention to either equalise on the part or increase the tally.
In the 70th minute, a clean back pass from Aduana’s Derrick Sasraku was netted to increase the goal tally to three by Oba Inkama Ulitch.
In what could be described as a consolation goal, Wonders’ Daniel Larbi dribbled past Aduana’s shot stopper, Gordon Yeboah, in his bid to score but was brought down by the goalkeeper, resulting in a penalty kick.
Larbi utilised the spot kick to end proceedings 3-1 in Aduana’s favour.
At the Cape Coast Stadium, newly promoted Ghana Premier League side, Karela United outplayed and walloped Ebusua Dwarfs 4-0 in their second G-8 game.
Solomon Sarfo Taylor, who was on Karela’s bench during their game against Hearts of Oak, opened scoring in the 24th minute and just two minutes later he doubled it.
William Opoku scored the third goal in the 33rd minute before Man of the Match, Solomon Sarfo Taylor, hit a hat trick in the 42nd to put the game well beyond the Cape Coast lads.
