Team Ghana has made a significant leap on the ongoing 2023 African Games medals table, now ranking 7th after securing 21 medals.
This remarkable achievement follows their exceptional performance in the Arm-wrestling event.
Ghana’s Arm-wrestling team emerged victorious with an impressive haul of 21 medals, comprising 4 gold, 10 silver, and 7 bronze, thereby elevating Ghana’s overall medal count to 26 – consisting of 5 gold, 13 silver, and 8 bronze medals.
Ghana also achieved its first-ever medal sweep in the Mixed Martial Arts competition, garnering 9 medals. However, these medals couldn’t be officially added to the country’s tally on the medal table since Mixed Martial Arts is categorized as a demonstration sport.
As of now, Egypt maintains its lead atop the medal table with an impressive total of 144 medals. Nigeria closely follows in second place with 68 medals, while South Africa secures the third spot with 87 medals.
Algeria and Tunisia occupy the fourth and fifth positions respectively, with 88 and 59 medals.
