THROUGH THE support of Ghana National Gas Company, construction works for a multi-complex artificial park project is set to start at the New Suame Division Park in the Suame Municipality.
The Majority Leader in Parliament, who doubles as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Suame, Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, mooted the idea for the park to be re-developed into a modern edifice to promote sporting activities.
The Suame Lawmaker then approached the Ghana National Gas Company, headed by Ben Asante, to sponsor for the modern edifice to be constructed to help unearth football talents in Suame and nearby areas.
Speaking at the sod-cutting ceremony on Sunday for the project to kick-start works, Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, the Suame MP, said the New Suame Division Park has helped to produce great football stars for Ghana in the past.
“Former Kotoko stars like Francis Akwaffo, Kofi Owusu and several others, who were born and bred in Suame, used this park to train daily before they became national stars”, the Majority Leader proudly disclosed.
The Suame Lawmaker stated that he has also worked tirelessly to attract projects such as “school projects, hospital, water and roads” to be constructed in Suame to help make life better for the populace.
The Chief Executive of Ghana Gas, Ben Asante, said the project formed part of his company’s social responsibility, stressing that he is very hopeful that the facility would help Suame to unearth football stars for Ghana.
The Suame Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Maxwell Ofosu Boakye, said “the park would be constructed by BEST Ltd and it would be completed in six months time, boasting of an artificial football park, sitting stands, flood lights and fencing.
