Ghana loses Hosting right for Africa Women’s Championship

Ghana has lost the right to host the next Women’s Africa Cup of Nations scheduled to kick off on the 17th of November, 2018 at the Accra Sports Stadium and the Cape Coast Sports Stadium.

The Confederation of Africa Football, CAF have relieved off the right from Ghana after finding unsatisfactory reasons to the delay in preparations to the tournament.

CAF have had a number of visit to the country to inspect the progression of work ahead of the kick off of the tournament but have been unsatisfied by the work done by the Ghana Football Association and the Government of Ghana.

The President of CAF made it known that the body are in talks with other nations to take up the mantle to host the two-week tournament and will soon announce the host early next month.

“We are engaging several countries and should be able to announce a host during the CAF Extraordinary General Assembly in Egypt next month.”

Ghana will further lose a place in the toournament as she did not go through any qualifying games with Nigeria, Cameroon, Equatorial Guinea, South Africa, Zambia, Mali and Algeria already making a berth in the competition later this year.
