GhanameetsNaija 2019 was ‘Bae’
The ninth edition of the Ghana meets Naija which came off on Saturday, June 8 at the Accra International Conference Center had a high point of accolades mentioned in the aspect of performance.
It was as if a galaxy of stars had dropped down at the venue as musicians billed to perform took turns to entertain massive fans who made it to the concert.
The show was officially opened by popular Ghanaian disc jockey Kofi Amoako widely known as DJ Vyrusky, he treated patrons to back-to-back hits from the camp of Ghana and Nigeria.
It was then followed by a DJ battle, Ghana was represented by D.J Aroma as well as D.J BIG N from Nigeria. Both won heart of the music lovers who have gathered at the auditorium for the event.
Antonie Mensah was single-handedly given role as Master of Ceremony, he played the duty to the satisfaction of everyone.
Despite the frustration with obstructed views due to a plain ground, and initial challenges with sound, patrons’ screams and passion were contagious.The lingerie, the stars, the surprises and all left patrons call for more.
The event which lasted close to eight hours started with Medikal on the front for Ghana. Medikal performed with Fella Makafui with their hit banger Omo Ada, and Agbashie also joined Medikal on stage to perform their worldwide banger “Sister Akos”.
Followed was Patapaa who rocked the stage to perform the songs he’s known for including ‘Akwaaba’, Skopatumana, among others.
The fun performance saw on stage that white woman Patapaa was rumored to be dating when he traveled to Germany for his Europe tour.
The white lady rocking her African print dress joined Papeezy to perform and gave audience some bit of dancing moves and laughter.
R2bees made up of Paedae and Mugeez was next to follow on the battle field for Ghana, the music group performed songs such as ‘Ajei’, ‘Bayla Trap’, ‘Over’ , ‘Slow Down’ among others.
There was generally good performances from the likes of AK Songstress, Kelvinbwoy, Ras Kuuku, Opanka, Fameye, Kojo Cue, Shaker and several others.
The Nigerian soldiers represented in style as well with Teni, Wande Coal, Victor AD, Saltan, Moziz and a host of others. The ‘Case’ hitmaker treated patrons to some of her hit singles such as ‘Askamaya’ , ‘Uyo Meyo’ among others.
Nigeria’s celebrated music icon Wande Coal improved on his stage craft for a great performance as Victor AD’s Wetin We Gain song left patrons yearning for more after his showcase of talent on stage.
Put together by Empire Entertainment, Ghana Meets Naija aims at promoting unity among Ghanaian artistes and their Nigerian counterparts while creating an opportunity for music fans to interact with their favorites.
Ghana Meets Naija is also a platform where musicians in Ghana and Nigeria build a relationship to grow the music industry of Africa as a whole.
All in all, many believe music was indeed ‘rescued’ at the 2019 Edition of Ghana Meets Naija.
