After attending the World Armwrestling Federation congress in Almaty, Kazakhstan, to bid to host 2024 World Armwrestling Championship in Accra; Ghana has been handed the hosting rights.
Winning the proposal on Saturday, August 26, Congress of the World Armwrestling Federation confirmed Ghana is set to host the 2024 World Arm-wrestling Championship.
President Charles Osei Asibey of the Ghana Armwrestling Federation (GAF), together with Godson Kwame Asem and Husseini Akuettteh Addy, led a delegation to Kazakhstan for the Congress where the news was confirmed.
Hosting the 2024 World Armwrestling Championship will enhance the continuous progress of GAF, which has been evolving since its inception.
It plans to use the success of the recent 2023 Africa Championships as a springboard to boost its growth and expansion efforts.
Ghana’s bid was supported by Ghana’s Minister and the Ministry of Youth and Sports (MOYS), Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA), Ghana Investment Promotion Council (GIPC), Gt. Accra Regional Cordinating Council (GARCC) and many other institutions.
This came after President Osei Asibey during the last Congress made a case for Africa to host the World Championship as the event had evolved in Europe and the America’s for over 45years.
Globally, the World Armwrestling Championship is the highest, biggest and most esteemed Armwrestling event organised yearly.
It is the convergence of all the best Pullers battling for supremacy and rights.
More than 2,000 athletes, coaches, referees, and spectators come together for this annual festival which has been instituted, authorized, and supervised by the World Armwrestling Federation (WAF).
