Ghana to Mark World Tourism Day with Paragliding
The Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture, Madam Catherine Afeku, has disclosed that this year’s celebration of World Tourism Day would be marked at Kwahu in the Eastern Region.
She indicated that ‘Fun N Paragliding’, which is the name of this years’ celebration, slated for 27th September, 2018, is aimed at restoring the hope of Ghanaians in the tourism sector.
She noted that tourism in the country had witnessed a relatively lower participation for some time, but was hopeful that the trend would pick up this year, following the expansion of the take-off site, the provision of washrooms and sitting area for guests and participants.
The celebration, which according to the minister will be an extra-ordinary one, is under the theme “Tourism and the Digital Transformation”.
The United Nations (UN) World Tourism Day is celebrated annually by member countries across the world on 27th September. It is celebrated annually to highlight the potential of tourism as a valuable source of livelihood for millions of people among the member countries.
The paragliding festival is the second to be organized this year.
