The Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) on Valentine’s Day presented assorted cocoa products worth GHc1, 000 to basic school pupils at the Twin-City Special School at Sofokrom in Sekondi.
The donated items included; cocoa powder, chocolate, chocholum among others.
A Principal Administrative Officer at the GTA, office in Takoradi, Miss Aya Baidoo who made the presentation on behalf of the Acting Western Regional Manager of the GTA, Mr Michael Kpingyi said the GTA intended to put smiles on the faces of the children with special needs
Ghana celebrates Valentine’s Day as National Chocolate Day and this year’s celebration was on the theme: “Eat Ghana, Eat Chocolate”.
Miss Baidoo advised Ghanaians to patronise cocoa products since they were generally good for the body.
Madam Crescentia Efua Bilson-Sai, the Headmistress of the school expressed her gratitude to the GTA for making the welfare of the children their concern.
She said in spite of the challenges associated with educating children with special needs, teachers in the school continued to do their best to assist the children to acquire the relevant education needed for self-actualisation in life.
