Felicity Asantewaa, a proud Ghanaian, has set a remarkable new record for the most cars washed by an individual.
On March 9, 2024, during a ‘car-wash-a-thon’ held near the Executive Club in East Legon, Accra, Ms. Asantewaa washed an astonishing 60 cars within an eight-hour period. This impressive feat broke the previous record of 55 cars, surpassing it by five.
The Guinness World Records (GWR) website formally recognized her achievement, highlighting it with a post that stands as a legitimate acknowledgment, especially in contrast to the recent controversial claims by Chef Smith.
This extraordinary accomplishment has brought pride to many Ghanaians, who see Felicity’s achievement as restoring some national glory following the international embarrassment caused by Chef Smith’s dubious actions.
During the event, Felicity spoke to Culture Joint about her motivations, revealing a strong dedication to empowering young women in Ghana and advocating for gender equality.
“I’m not looking to compete with men, but to demonstrate that women are equally capable of pursuing various opportunities for a living,” Felicity emphasized.
She added that “I want to promote Ghana’s name and empower young women by showing that car washing can be a viable profession leading to financial independence.”
Her determination and success have not gone unnoticed, as Ghanaians have showered her with congratulations. Felicity’s accomplishment is seen as a beacon of hope and pride, especially in light of the recent negative attention brought by Chef Smith’s antics.
Through her hard work and dedication, Felicity Asantewaa has not only broken a world record but also highlighted the potential and strength of Ghanaian women.
