A forestry student from Ghana, studying at Auburn University in the USA, has made it into the Guinness World Records.
Abubakar Tahiru has set a new record for the most trees hugged by one person in just one hour.
He hugged an incredible total of 1,123 trees during his attempt. This impressive feat took place on March 25, 2024, at the Pleasant Hills area of the Tuskegee National Forest in Auburn, Alabama, USA.
Mr. Tahiru took to his Facebook page to announce the record.
“The most trees hugged in one hour (individual) is 1,123, and was achieved by Abubakar Tahiru (Ghana), in Auburn, Alabama, USA, on 25 March 2024.
“Abubakar is an Auburn University forestry student who is deeply passionate about the environment and sustainable forestry.
He hopes his attempt will spotlight the need for sustainability and inspire a call to global community action, a publication on the website of the Guinness World Record confirmed Abubakar’s impressive achievement.
As a forestry student at Auburn University, Tahiru was motivated by his deep passion for sustainability, environmental awareness, and his genuine love for trees.
His ambitious project aimed not only to create a record with each tree hugged but also to highlight the pressing need for global environmental action.
