GHS Investigates ‘Mortuary man’ in Ebony’s Viral Video
The Ghana Health Service (GHS) has begun investigations into the alleged mistreatment of the bodies of late Afro dancehall diva, Priscilla Opoku-Kwarteng known in showbiz as Ebony Reigns and her friend Franky Kuri, captured in a video.
The video which had gone viral, reportedly captured a mortuary attendant touching and folding the badly injured bodies of the pair in the bid to examine the condition of the bodies.
A statement signed by the Director-General of GHS, Dr. Anthony Nsiah-Asare condemned the alleged act and added that investigation is underway to ascertain the identity of the mortuary attendant.
The inquiry is also in the bid to establish whether the incident occurred at a mortuary facility belonging to the service.
According to the statement, “The attention of the Ghana Health Service (GHS) has been drawn to publications/broadcast by the print and electronic media on a leaked video of an ‘unidentified’ mortuary attendant/staff fondling corpses alleged to be that of Miss Ebony Reigns and her friend who were recently involved in a fatal road traffic accident.”
“The GHS has initiated investigations to ascertain the identity of the alleged mortuary man and also to confirm whether the incident occurred in a mortuary facility belonging to the Service,” the statement added.
Dr Nsiah-Asare assured Ghanaians that the service upholds the dignity and rights of patients and would in no way overlook such unethical conduct if it is established that the alleged mortuary attendant is a staff of the service.
Ebony Reigns died in a car accident on the Sunyani-Kumasi road on February 8, 2018 together with her best friend Franky Kuri and bodyguard, Airforce Lance Corporal Francis Atsu Vondee. She would be buried on March 17, 2018.
