The National Executive Committee of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) are looking forward to fix a date for the suspended primaries which was slated on April, 25 2020 to elect parliamentary candidates ahead of the December polls
This has not discouraged qualified aspirants across the various constituencies from engaging their delegates even in the wake of deadly novel coronavirus pandemic.
Gifty Mensah, an Educationist and Counselor who also doubles as the Country Director of Friends Of Women In Global Economy Ghana (NGO) is seeking to be elected as Parliamentary candidate for Bortianor Ngleshie Amanfrom Constituency in the Greater Accra Region.
She goes into the contest as the most favorite candidate among the five aspirants in which she is the only female.
Gifty is set to beat the four heavyweights including the incumbent Member of Parliament Alhaji Habib Saad and Mr. Sylvester Tetteh the CEO of the National Youth Authority.
The constituents are poised to give Gifty the nod this time around because they say they are fed with the bad political leadership of the male MPs voted in the area since 2012.
The constituency was carved from Weija Constituency by Electoral Commission chaired by Afari Gyan
Bright Demordzi won the maiden election on the ticket of NDC.
Alhaji Habib Saad, a businessman who had stayed in the constituency for decades wrestled the seat for NPP in the 2016 elections.
However, the NPP delegates in the constituency are sure to endorse Gifty Mensah in the upcoming primaries as they are enthused with her policies and believe she can canvas enough votes to retain the seat for the ruling party.
Even before Gifty is voted for, she is poised to solicit loan facility for women to expand their business, lobby for more job opportunities for the youth and other social amenities to improve the standard of living in the constituency.
