Gov’t Commends Black Princesses for France Qualification
The Ministry of Youth and Sports (MoYS) on behalf of the government and the people of Ghana has congratulated the National U-20 Women’s football team, the Black Princess and the technical handlers for qualifying to this year’s Federation of International Football Association (FIFA) U-20 World Cup in France.
The Black Princesses of Ghana qualified with a 4:1 aggregate over a two leg African qualifying game against Les Indomitable Lioness of Cameroon.
In a release signed by Elvis Adjei-Baah, Head of Public Relations at the MoYS and copied to GNA Sports noted that “the Ministry remains confident in the capacity of the Black Princesses and other national teams to make their nation and themselves proud and we encourage them to remain focused and determined.
“While celebrating this emphatic qualification, we wish to assure of government’s fullest commitment and support towards the team’s preparation for the tournament in August in France”.
According to the release the MoYS also acknowledges the huge role played by the First Lady Mrs. Rebecca Akuffo-Addo in motivating the players and mobilizing support on the match day.
Ghana drew 1:1 with Cameroon in Yaoundé in the final first leg qualifier, with goals from Ernestina Abambila and Princella Adubea’s brace in the return encounter at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium.
The Black Princesses booking Ghana’s major football qualification for 2018, would be making their fourth successive appearance at the global event, which would be held from 5th-24th August in France.
