The Ashanti Regional Coordinating Council (RCC) has taken delivery of an assortment of items to protect the citizenry from being infected with the Covid-19 virus.
The items include 45,000 boxes of Face Masks; 4,500 boxes of Hand Sanitizers; 4,500 boxes of Soaps and 4,500 pieces of Veronica Buckets and their metal stands.
Deputy Minister of Local Government, Collins Ntim, on behalf of his boss, Hajiya Alima Mahama, gave the items to the Ashanti Regional Minister, Simon Osei Mensah.
Collins Ntim explained that the essential items were meant to be distributed freely to all the 43 Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) in the Ashanti Region.
Government, the Deputy Minister of Local Government and Rural Development said, is determined and working harder than ever to help prevent the spread of the Covid-19 virus.
He remarked that the distribution of the free items to the various MMDAs clearly buttresses his claim that government was doing its utmost best to fight the virus.
Collins Ntim, who is also the Member of Parliament (MP) for Offinso North, said the items would be positioned in markets and lorry parks, where people usually converge.
He also announced that government is ready to fumigate all markets in the country to help avert the spread of the virus, saying “this exercise has started in Accra already”.
Ashanti Regional Minister, Simon Osei Mensah, on behalf of the residents of the Ashanti Region, commended government for being proactive and caring.
The Asokwa Member of Parliament (MP), Patricia Appiagyei, stated that the items would be evenly distributed to the MMDAs in the Ashanti region.
