Ghana Education Service (GES) has, in line with government’s arrangement to implement the double track system, begun recruiting graduate teachers to teach in the various Senior High Schools in the country.
According to a statement signed yesterday by Cassandra Twum Ampofo, Head of Public Relations of the GES, only applicants who had completed their national service would be shortlisted for subsequent examination and engagement.
“The Ghana Education Service informs the general public that it is recruiting graduate teachers for the Senior High Schools as part of its arrangement for the launching of the double track system,” the statement read.
The statement noted that GES reserved the right to post applicants, upon recruitment, to places where their services would be needed.
It further disclosed that limited vacancies had been provided for cooks and other non-teaching staff categories for some specific schools.
The double-track system, according to the Education Minister, Matthew Opoku Prempeh, will kick start in September.
With the new system, Ghana’s second cycle institutions will move away from three school terms to a two semester system.
The move is to ease the severe congestion in classrooms and also lessen pressure on already inadequate infrastructure in the institutions, caused by governments Free SHS programme.
Meanwhile, GES has announced September 1, as the deadline for the online application.
