Grammy is not real: Fuse ODG drops bombshell

British-Ghanaian recording artiste born Nana Richard Abiona popularly known as Fuse ODG has admonished the Ghanaian art industry to be very careful not to equate talent to the Grammys.

The UK based Ghanaian music performer rubbished the urge of winning the Grammy by Ghanaian musicians and the pressure from the media, saying, they shouldn’t be fixated on wrong things.

According to him, Ghana is above the Grammys.

Emphasizing his claims, the ‘Antenna’ singer divulged the fact that Grammy is achieved through relationships.

“All these award shows they are doing over there are not real – they are achieved through relationships. We need to be very careful by not equating the GRAMMY to talent” he said.

In addition, Fuse ODG indicated he does not allow award schemes to distract him neither does he allow it to measure his potentials and success.

In his opinion, the Grammys among other award schemes across the world are not real and he does not hold them in high esteem.

In his narration, he revealed how Ed Sheeran decided to boycott the Grammys after many years of been denied a plaque.

He stated, “Ed Sheeran didn’t get a Recording Academy / GRAMMYs for so long that he stopped going. He felt his hard work was not being appreciated. The year he decided was when he actually won”.

The multi-awarded singer further called on the Ghana Music Awards to work towards quality to garner the standard of which the Grammy is considered.

Fuse ODG, who was speaking on Hitz FM morning show ‘DaybreakHitz’ with Andy Dosty, last Friday called on the Ghanaian populace to cherish its local music awards saying “We have to make it big so the world would come here”.
