Work has commenced on the 7.5 kilometer LEKMA road in Accra.
The road which links Spintex, Batsonaa, Nungua, Teshie, Labadi and other communities started on Sunday July 21 and is expected to be completed in six months.
A statement issued in Accra by Divine Agorhom, the Greater Accra Regional Chairman of the ruling New Patriotic Party, said the party is happy about the start of work on the road.
It said “We hereby express our gratitude to His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, President of the Republic of Ghana for his wisdom and foresight in ensuring that this road was appropriately budgeted for in the 2019 Budget Statement”.
Mr. Agorhom also expressed his gratitude to Mr. Amoako-Atta, the Minister of Roads and Highways over “His determination and focus” in getting the project from the pages of the 2019 budget on to the ground.
The statement while describing the Member of Parliament for the Ledzokuku Constituency, Dr. Bernard Okoe Boye as “Industrious and hardworking” noted that the MP deserves commendation for his perseverance and passionate public advocacy to see the project executed.
It added: “Since his election to Parliament, the articulate and erudite MP has used every available opportunity to raise awareness for the need for the completion of this project”
The statement however, acknowledged the media, and all stakeholders whose interest and involvement in the road raised it to a ’cause célèbre’.
