Guinness World Record attempts becoming annoying – Article Wan

Bright Homenya popularly known in showbiz circles as Article Wan, a Reggae and Afro- Dancehall artiste, has said attempts to break or set records is becoming too much for the ears of Ghanaians.

He said before the Guinness Book of Records leaves Ghana, they’ll have to buy a new book because the number of people who are trying to set or break records keeps increasing.

“As for me, the record I want to break unless I do Ton-A-Thon that is if I buy something and sell it because the Thon Thon is too much for Ghana. I’m sure the Guinness Book of Records before they leave Ghana, they’ll buy a new book and add it to it because the Thon Thon that people are doing more than Thon Thon Thon, the record attempt is becoming too much and looks annoying” he said on Cape Coast’s Property FM.

He added, “Today you’ll see somebody saying they’ll do Talk-A-Thon, somebody says Stand-A-Thon and somebody also says Walk-A-Thon. Good luck to everybody at least to me I think the Guinness Book of Records thing has also trended Ghana more in December. Whatever happens sometimes there is the positive side and there is the negative side also but I always think about the positive side.”

No Cocoa Season

He further stated emphatically that there is nothing like a cocoa season in an election year for musicians.

He remarked, “There is nothing like a cocoa season in an election year for musicians, the only thing is that we should all keep it calm and make the election a very safe one”.

According to the singer and songwriter, the struggle for political power isn’t a joke but Ghanaians must keep it cool and safe for a peaceful election.

He said “Elections aren’t a joke because we’re talking about power and sitting at home if your light goes out it’s a problem and that’s what we call power. When we say power it is very strong and different political parties fighting to gain power is not a small thing and this is the country we live in. To me, it’s not our cocoa season but just have a message for everyone and let’s just keep it cool, and safe and let’s have a peaceful election and we move on from there.”

Trolls

Speaking about the about the difficult circumstances that public figures and celebrities go through on social media.

He indicated, “Just look at our work like this I choose my career and I do my own career but the moment the music becomes global, Ghana falls in love with you.  When you travel abroad to perform and things don’t go well by the time you get to Kotoka Airport people will give it to you with insults and so on.

“And as for social media unless you throw your phone away because if you are holding your phone you’ll definitely feel the insults there”.

“Every public figure should know better and should master courage about all these things because it comes with the work and that’s what makes the work enjoyable. Though it’s my career, the fans can fire you and at times it straightens you up and I’m not saying they are going to show you what to do.

“As humans, we sometimes do certain things and the trolls and insults will make you go right so sometimes that’s also very necessary” he concluded.
