Gun Dealers Grabbed
Two people in the Ashanti region, who secretly manufacture and sell guns without permit, are in deep waters now.
The suspects, identified as Opoku Mensah Isaac, 49, and Samuel Kumah, 39, are both blacksmiths by profession.
According to the Ashanti Regional Police, who arrested the suspects at Asonomaso on Monday, October 30, thirteen locally-manufactured single-barrel guns were found on them during a search.
ASP Juliana Obeng, the Regional Police Public Relations Officer (PRO), made these known during a press conference at the regional police headquarters.
Speaking to the media, she said the police received information that the suspects were manufacturing and selling guns illegally. The PRO added that armed with this information, the police monitored the two and subsequently arrested them at their base at Asonomaso.
ASP Obeng said the suspects would be hauled to court to face the law after investigations have been completed. Meanwhile, the police are holding the two men, together with the 13 illegally manufactured guns, as investigations proceed.
