Guru Threatens To Sue Wutah

Boss of NKZ music, Maradona Yeboah Adjei, popularly known by his stage name Guru, has threatened to take legal action against now-defunct music group, Wutah, for wasting his money.

Guru’s comment comes after a member of the group, Wutah Kobby, revealed that the group had collapsed, and that he would want to remain a solo artiste forever.

Guru, in an interview, said Wutah had breached a contract they have with his NKZ music label, and as such the label could soon take legal action against the duo.

“The truth is; it’s a financial issue, and I’ve done my bid as a CEO. But the group is being selfish and all that. So right now, management is working on suing the music duo for breach of contract, because they’ve wasted our money and time”, he said.

Wutah came into the limelight in 2004 when it contested for the Nescafe Africa Revelation music competition in Accra, and came second to Praye. The name Wutah is a Hausa word which means fire.

Their debut album, ‘Anamontuo’ which has songs like ‘Adonko’, ‘Goosie Gander’ and ‘Big Dreams’ earned them eleven nominations including The Most Popular Song of the Year, Album Of the Year and Artiste of the Year in the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards.

After going almost redundant for many years, NKZ tried to revive Wutah in May, 2017 by signing it onto the label, and thus took charge of all management and promotion-related issues.
