Atinga Nsobila Joel, the Chief Executive Officer of God’s Time Khebab, is currently undertaking a Guinness World Record attempt to achieve a remarkable 90-hour-long barbecue marathon.
The marathon, scheduled from April 11th to April 14th, aims to exceed the existing record for the longest barbecue. The event will be held at the Legon City mall in Accra, with the university graduate leading the effort.
His goal is to produce an impressive 10,000 sticks of kebab during this event.
Announcing his ambitious endeavor on social media, Joel expressed his excitement, stating, “Glad to announce my 90hrs longest barbecue marathon commences.”
In an interview before starting his marathon, Atinga shared that the kebab business has been a family endeavor initiated by his father.
He highlighted that he funded his education from primary to tertiary levels using the earnings from this business.
Atinga expressed his motivation for the marathon as a means to challenge the misconception that kebab businesses are exclusively for those without formal education.
“I’m trying to do this to encourage people to take this as a source of livelihood and support themselves and their families and also dispute the wrong notion that we have about some kind of jobs that are for people who are only uneducated,” Atinga told Culture Joint.
He adds to the roster of Ghanaians who have recently undertaken Guinness World Record attempts.
Among them are Afua Asantewaa, who tried the longest singing marathon but did not succeed, and Chef Faila, who attempted the longest cooking marathon but also fell short.
Additionally, individuals like Kaakyire Agyemang and Adu Sarfowaa have yet to receive official confirmation as record holders following their attempts.
