Happy FM’s Inter-Zongo Cooking Competition Ends On High Note: Winners Receive Fantastic Prizes

Happy FM’s Inter-Zongo Cooking Competition came to a thrilling conclusion on July 29, 2024, with the Vim Ladies of Madina Zongo emerging as the winners of the 2024 Salahfest Inter-Zongo Cooking Competition.

The grand finale, held at the Fadama Lorry Station, saw the team take home fantastic prizes, including refrigerators and kettles, as well as other prizes from sponsors Tasty Tom, Fortune, Chocho, and Nkulenu.

The event, which was attended by a large crowd of food enthusiasts and fans, saw the Vim Ladies of Madina Zongo emerge as the winners of the competition over the other nine (9) competing communities. The team impressed the judges with their culinary skills, showcasing a delicious array of dishes that highlighted the rich cultural heritage of the Zongo community.

The atmosphere at Fadama was not only filled with pleasant aromas from the cooking but patrons and audience were serenaded with quality music and performances from ‘No Noise’ hitmaker, Rashid Metal, Kobby Shawn, and a host of other great talents.

The Inter-Zongo Cooking Competition, an initiative of Happy 98.9 FM, seeks to promote cultural exchange, unity, togetherness, and most importantly celebration of the rich diversity of the Zongo communities. The competition saw teams from various Zongos across Accra showcase their unique culinary traditions.

Team Vim ladies walked home with Refrigerators and kettles as the ultimate winners. They also received other prizes from Tasty Tom, Fortune, Chocho, and Nkulenu. Representatives from Ashiaman and Mamobi also walked away with blenders and kettles with lots of prizes from sponsors as the third and second-place winners respectively. Other participants received products from sponsors and certificates for participating in the 2024 Salahfest.

Commenting on the preliminary journey, Events Manager for HappyFM, Oliver Appiah-Kubi said, “I feel so excited with how far the journey has been, which started at Kasoa, Nima, and Fadama. It is truly rewarding to experience the passion, creativity, culinary art, and cultural diversity in each community.
