Hard Work And Dedication: The Positive Energy Behind Poundz World

Mrs. Eunice Amoakoa Botchway, popularly known as Akosua Poundz – owner of Poundz World says hard work and dedication has been her trademark since the establishment of her business in 2013.

Poundz World – dealers in all sorts of gifts items, surprise deliveries and planning, production of African clothing bags, shoes and accessories has growth from strength to strength over the period.

Speaking to the New Publisher, Mrs. Eunice revealed she had the mindset to start operating in such business which today has become a good aspect of livelihood for her family due to the circumstance of not wanting to stay idle during vacation periods.

According to her, she was eager to earn a good living during and after her University days, which pushed her into such business adventure.

“Poundz World is the company’s name with current and future multiple ventures. I am dreaming big for the company. The current success though I’m happy for, I am seeking to earn more, do more and open my scope of employing more. Currently, we deal in all sorts of gifts items, surprise deliveries and planning, production of African clothing bags, shoes and accessories. Fast forward, gifts and surprises was just one of my marketing strategies

“I developed as a marketer to sell my African products. I then started by making African hampers and also adding a touch of African accessories to any gift or hamper I made, before I realized, the marketing strategy became a venture of gifts and surprises on its own. We started with African clothing bags and shoes in 2013 whiles I was in my second year in the university studying marketing. I was driven by my passion to do something back in school. I wasn’t looking at the business aspect from the onset. Staying idle during vacations wasn’t my style so during my long vacation period (first year in university) I went to learn how to sow bags and make African accessories.”

She added, “Today, it has made me to achieve a lot. I have enjoyed and gotten mention at many places. The business that I started as a small thing in school has grown to become something essential, vital and necessary to my life. Passion, hard work, and dedication have made it so. There is more to be done, I will do more, I will continue to need the support and even more. Being interviewed like this was part of the dream, which has been achieved. More would be achieve which I am hopeful about. Giving UP is not part of me”.

The Journey

Mrs. Eunice answering to a question on how the journey has over the years been like, she explained it has been full of Ups and Downs but keeping her head up was and has the focus, amounting to her current success.

“The journey has been great with so much experience from not being able to handle excess orders at the early stages (2017) to meeting great personalities like late President Rawlings, Uncle Ebo White, a lot of media personalities, among others. I believe in hard work and positive mindset.

“Getting the right recourses was a bit of a challenge from the onset, but I never gave up. Today we are proud to be one of the best gifts and surprise ventures we have in Ghana, we are able to deliver top notch surprises on birthdays and all special occasions within 24hours. I don’t accept impossibilities, I love to see everywoman grow and also build confident in themselves; same time not looking down on others.

“What keep me committed are results. I’m result oriented, not able to rest until I achieve results thus creating pleasant memories to my clients or celebrants.”

Advice to the Youth

Mrs. Eunice had some words of encouragement for the youth and generation of today and those yet to come.

“Believe in yourself, never allow any form of limitations regardless of your background, do not settle for less when the going gets tougher, instead make prayer your best friend, stay positive. No matter how little it may be, start something. Lastly, know your purpose on earth, get to know yourself better and allow God to lead you in life.”

She has won two awards namely Entrepreneur Of The Year and  Emerging Under 30 CEO at the Golden Age Creative Arts Awards.

Family Life

Mrs. Eunice is married to Mr. Frank Boadi – a man she describes as very supportive, full of aspiration, full of passion and willingness to see her grow and blessed with one beautiful and amazing daughter.

She hails from Akim Oda in the Eastern Region.
