Hayford Siaw Begins Work as GhLA Boss
The Ghana Library Authority (GhLA) welcomes its new Ag. Chief Executive, Hayford Siaw, who officially assumed his new role on 8th January 2018. Mr. Siaw steps into the hot seat signalling a time of profound change for the organization.
His appointment has generated a welcome wave of optimism at an organisation which has fallen on hard times in recent years. His youth, energy, dynamism and personality is a breath of fresh air that promises to inspire a new chapter in the annals of the organization as it aspires to take its rightful place in the 21st century national development.
The new Ag. Chief Executive has the fascinating task of developing and advancing a strategic plan for the organization, and assembling the resources that will ultimately help in executing the library’s programs, consistent with its stated mandate in a fast-changing world.
Mr Siaw’s background uniquely positions him to assume this challenging office. A social entrepreneur and development consultant, he is the founder of the Street Library in 2011 which has now expanded into six regions of Ghana, as well as three other African countries that serves as a vehicle for library services outside the confines of brick-and-mortar buildings. This demonstrates his unwavering commitment to taking literacy to the deprived and overlooked within our society, a commitment that aligns with the GhLA’s core values and mission long before he joined the organization.
His previous engagements have helped hone his skills as a skilful negotiator and prolific fundraiser with a proven track record of mobilizing resources from partners across the world to support his initiatives, an ability which stands him in good stead to run an organization which has been starved of both government and donor funding over the years.
It is the hope of the GhLA as an organization, that Mr Siaw will be given all the necessary support he requires from government as a demonstration of the faith reposed in him by His Excellency the President of the Republic of Ghana who appointed him. The organization will like to take this unique opportunity to thank the President for making this decisive appointment which is a vote of confidence in our youth and in enterprise that Mr Hayford Siaw so embodies.
