‘Hearts’ Atinga Is Best Defender’
VINCENT ATINGA of Hearts of Oak has been adjudged the best defender of the season by Kumasi Asante Kotoko Coach Steve Pollack.
According to the expatriate trainer, the Hearts of Oak hard tackler impressed him most with his robust nature during the entire season.
Steve Pollack stated that Atinga virtually lived up to expectation throughout the season so to him (Pollack) Atinga was the best in defender.
“For my best player in defense, I will go for Vincent Atinga of Heart of Oak because he is a strong defender and he performed better”.
The coach said he was impressed, particularly, about Atinga’s consistency for most parts of the just-ended football season.
Steve Pollack, making his assessment on the just ended Ghana football season during an interview on Nhyira FM also picked Stephen Sarfo of Kotoko as his best upfront player of the season, which Kotoko finished fifth on the league ladder.
According to him, Sarfo joined Kotoko as a raw talent “and I am highly impressed about how he had developed so fast to become a potent attacker”.
Coach Pollack also named WAFA as the team which was very difficult to play against during the season, saying “they have young and talented players”.
According to him, the WAFA team has played for a long time so they have cohesion and that makes it difficult to play against them.
