Hearts Coach Returns to Post
Accra Hearts of Oak training for pre-season’s activities moved up a gear yesterday when the head coach, Frank Nuttall, took over after returning from holiday in Scotland last Tuesday night.
Earlier this week, reports indicated that Coach Nuttall would not return to complete the two-year contract he signed with the Phobians, citing issues with his return ticket to Ghana and non-payment of player salaries as reasons.
However, the 48-year-old Scottish showed up last Tuesday night and took charge of the training session yesterday morning at the team’s training ground at the Ajax Park at the University of Ghana, Legon.
His arrival attracted a number of the players to training yesterday as they prepared to take on WAFA, Ebusua Dwarfs and Karela FC in the Southern Zone of the GHALCA-organised G8 Tournament.
Assistant coach of Hearts, Henry Wellington, led a handful of players at training since last week in the absence of his boos. He told the Daily Graphic yesterday that all registered players were at the training except those whose contracts ran out at the end of the season.
“Coach Nuttal was at training yesterday and all the players also came except Cosmos Dauda and those players whose contracts have ended,” Wellington said.
