Hearts Part Ways with Head Coach Wellington, Adjei
Accra Hearts of Oak Friday parted ways with head coach Henry Wellington and goalkeepers’ trainer, Jerry Adjei, and named Under-20 team coach, Seth Hoffman, as an interim coach.
However, Assistant coach, Nii Dodoo Odoom, was re-assigned to the Auroras team as the club searches for a substantive coach for the senior team.
Coach Wellington took over from Scottish trainer, Frank Elliot Nuttal, who was sacked for unsporting behaviour ahead of the 2017/2018 season.
Under Coach Wellington, the Phobians experienced a tough campaign, finishing the first round of the season at the 12th position with just 17 points, forcing the club to terminate his contract.
A statement signed by the Communications Director of the club, Kwame Opare Addo, yesterday read: “The Board of Directors of Accra Hearts of Oak Sporting Limited at its meeting held on Thursday, June 7, 2018 terminated the contracts of coaches Henry Wellington and Jerry Addei with immediate effect.”
“Coach Seth Hoffman, currently the head coach of Hearts of Oak Under-20, Auroras, has agreed to take temporary charges of the first team duties and will serve as interim head coach until a substantive head coach is appointed.”
The statement continued: “Meanwhile, the Board will continue with the active search for a Director of Football and expect to make an announcement on that appointment in the coming coming weeks.”
