Heavy Rain Kills 2, Destroy Properties

DISASTER STRUCK at Kwadaso in the Kwadaso Municipality in the Ashanti region on Thursday night during a heavy downpour.

The dilapidated building suddenly collapsed and, in the process, trapped and killed two persons, who were then asleep, the paper gathered.

The deceased persons have been identified as a grandmother and her grandson by according to eye witnesses.

Their identities were given as Mary Adusei Poku, 76 years-old and Elvis Sarkodie, 8

It had rained for about six hours and some parts of their room just caved in, trapping them in the process.

Sarkodie, who was hit by weighty concrete blocks, died instantly whiles Mary who was also severely injured, passed at the hospital hours later.

THE PUBLISHER gathered that the heavy rains, which lasted for several hours, caused intense havoc in most parts of the city.

For instance, the paper learnt that several houses and roads were submerged by the rising waters, which caused problems for residents.

Several people were trapped in their rooms by the rains and they were rescued by NADMO officials, who endured a difficult night.
