Nigerian transgender personality Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, has once again found himself in trouble with the law.
He was detained again in Lagos by agents of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) while attempting to board a plane bound for London.
On Thursday evening, Bobrisky was removed from a KLM flight heading to Amsterdam and subsequently arrested by immigration officials as he tried to leave Nigeria.
Following his arrest, Bobrisky turned to social media to seek help from his followers, stating, “Nigerians help me, EFCC just arrested me; I’m badly injured…”
He shared photos showing bruises he reportedly sustained during the altercation. However, the specific reasons for his arrest remain unclear.
Videos and reports confirm that Bobrisky was indeed removed from the Amsterdam-bound KLM flight and detained by immigration officers later that evening. This incident is part of a series of clashes Bobrisky has had with authorities, including the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS).
In another recent event, Bobrisky faced arrest at the Seme border while allegedly attempting to flee the country. Social media activist Martins Otse, known as VeryDarkMan, shared a video claiming that Bobrisky was arrested at the border while trying to enter the Benin Republic to escape an ongoing investigation by the House of Representatives.
VeryDarkMan stated, “Bobrisky has been arrested this morning at the Seme border while trying to enter BENIN REPUBLIC to escape the current investigation by the house of reps. He is allegedly being held by the Nigeria Immigration…MAKE WE WAIT FOR BOB TO DEBUNK. Cho Cho Cho.”
Since the beginning of 2024, Bobrisky has encountered numerous legal issues. On November 1, social media buzzed with news of his airport arrest, with videos circulating that showed the moment he was dragged off the plane and detained.
Comedian Seyi Law expressed confusion over the incident, questioning, “I don’t understand this Bobrisky’s case, abeg. Did any court ask him not to travel? Why allow him to get on the plane and humiliate him like this?”
This latest arrest marks the second time Bobrisky has been detained while trying to leave Nigeria; the first incident occurred on October 22, 2024, when he was stopped at the Seme border while allegedly attempting to flee the country by road. The timing of his latest arrest was particularly notable, as it occurred just hours after socialite Isaac Fayose, brother of former Ekiti State Governor Ayo Fayose, posted pictures on Instagram with Bobrisky on board the flight to London, expressing excitement about their travel together.
His repeated run-ins with the law have sparked a flurry of reactions across social media, leaving many wondering about the reasons behind his latest arrest.
