Help Miss Commonwealth To Be Innovative – Iranian Ambassador
The Ambassador of the Republic of Iran to Ghana, Dr. Nosratollah Maleki, has called for new and innovative forms of financing and promotion of social developmental programs like the Miss Commonwealth Pageant.
Speaking at the launch of this year’s beauty pageant at the Alisa Hotel, he said the time had come for more innovative measures to be adhered for the better promotion of beauty pageants in the country.
”I really enjoy them and personally believe that every human being is responsible to help others, particularly, those in need. Iran supports any activities aimed at bringing relief to the lives of others, promoting peace, advocating justice, eradicating poverty, establishing peace and bringing about equality, ” he said.
According to him, intensification of efforts to project innovation for women and girls, at the heart of initiatives to achieve gender equality in the country, must be spearheaded in the pageant.
He stressed the need to increase trade between Iran and Ghana, with the sole aim of bringing relief to the peoples of the two countries, promoting peace, advocating justice, and eradicating poverty, among others.
The Chief Executive Officer of the event, Princess Duncan, on her part, noted that last year was mega and this year is expected to be fantastic because the prize packages have been enhanced to create more opportunities for the winners.
She acknowledged the Ministry of Tourism, Ministry of Arts and Culture and other government agencies for their support for the first edition.
According to her, Miss Commonwealth strives to resolve some societal challenges regarding regular and voluntary blood donation through Blood Drives, Feminine Hygiene Sensitization, Women’s and Children’s Health Issues, among others.
She stressed that auditioning for the 2019 edition is scheduled for 3rd August to 7th September at the Alisa Hotel, whiles entry forms go for GH¢100.
The winner at the end of competition she noted would receive GH¢5,000 cash, a saloon car and a trip to the United Kingdom while the 1st runner-up will receive an undisclosed amount of money, amazing prizes and a trip to represent Ghana in India for the Miss Multinational. The 2nd runner-up will also travel to India and get a huge sum of money.
The ceremony was graced by Ekwoba Gyasi, Operations Manager for Atinka Media Village, past winners of the beauty pageant, Iranian Ambassador, and other traditional leaders.
