Huawei Technologies, a leading global information and communications provider has presented five laptops and 40 pieces of 10-inch tablets to the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA).
The items, which worth about GH¢100,000 was to support the AMA to implement its goal of making Accra a Smart City.
Mr Geoffrey Li, the Director for Enterprise Business of Huawei Technologies Ghana, who presented the items, said “Accra is the hometown of Huawei in Ghana” and therefore it was pleasure to support the AMA with their latest ICT products.
He said: “Huawei Technologies is a responsible corporate citizen that is committed to contributing significantly to the development of the communities and people in the regions where it operates.
“With 180,000 employees, Huawei is committed to enabling the future information society, and building a better connected world,” adding that technology could do a lot to ensure AMA have better working tools to benefit the people of Accra.
Mr Li said driven by a commitment to sound operations, ongoing innovation, and open collaboration, Huawei Technologies has established a competitive ICT portfolio of end-to-to solutions in telecom and enterprise networks, devices, technology and services.
“The company’s ICT solutions, products, and services are used in more than 170 countries and regions, serving over one-third of the world’s population,” he said.
Mr Mohammed Adjei Sowah, the Accra Metropolitan Chief Executive who received the items expressed gratitude to the donors and promised that they would be put into good use.
He said the AMA was working towards ensuring a smart Accra and was hopeful that the gesture would go a long way to support the agenda, adding that more pragmatic ways of incorporating technology into the city were being introduced to ensure that the vision becomes a reality.
