Hundreds of people thronged Jamestown, a suburb of Accra, to witness this year’s Chale Wote street festival.
The 8th edition, which begun on Monday, August 20 and ended yesterday, saw both Ghanaians and foreigners flooding the town with great anticipation and excitement.
It gave exhibitors the opportunity to showcase their artistic skills, and a platform for audiences to appreciate various talents from all specs and also purchase some of the displayed items.
The street of James town was filled with paintings, graffiti murals, photo exhibitions, interactive installations, a food and fashion marketplace, live street performances, extreme sports, amongst others.
High profiled dignitaries, including President Akufo-Addo were part of the hundreds of Ghanaians who participated in the event.
The President, accompanied by a delegation graced the occasion on Saturday, to witness the event.
Former Mayor of Accra and Member of Parliament for Ablekuma South Constituency, Alfred Oko Vanderpuje was also present at the event.
This year’s event was under the theme “Para-Other”.
According to the organizers of the event, the theme “is a transatlantic shortwave that transcends language and geography, but is also represented in relationship to unique locals.”
The Chale Wote street festival has come to stay after its inception in 2011.
It is a festival focused on the business of film and advocacy in the region. Its goal is to create a platform where filmmakers can learn, network, do business and celebrate their craft within an African context.
