I Did Not Collapse During Independence Day Event – DCE
The District Chief Executive (DCE) of Wassa East District, Wilson Arthur, has denied media reports that he collapsed while delivering an address during the 61st Independence Day celebration in his District.
According to him, persons claiming he collapsed are being mischievous with their assertions.
Reports indicated that Mr Arthur was immediately rushed to the Ahmadyyia Muslim Mission hospital at Daboase by his entourage after he fainted on Tuesday, 6 March.
However, speaking in an interview with Chief Jerry Forson on Ghana Yensom on Accra100.5FM on Wednesday, 7 March, Mr Arthur denied that claim.
He explained that prior to the occasion, he had suffered some headache and cold but thought he would have recovered fully due to the medicine he took. The situation, however, worsened while he read his speech.
He added that: “I walked back to my seat and later walked to the ambulance to rest, I never collapsed as is being speculated.”
“Our work is very demanding, we move around a lot, and, so, I fell sick before the occasion but I thought I was going to recover fully before the day but that wasn’t the case.”
