PRESIDENT NANA Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo says that one of his cardinal reasons for embarking on the nationwide working tour is to see for himself the performances of his appointees regarding projects in the regions.
The president, apparently referring to the recent development regarding the controversial AMERI deal, said he didn’t want to be an armchair president, who would be misled by his appointees.
“I don’t want to be an arm chair president that will be misled by my appointees and that is why I have been touring the ten regions of the country.
“I want to make sure that whatever my appointees say to me is what is indeed happening on the grounds”, President Nana Akufo-Addo said.
According to him, he also wanted to keep his appointees on their toes so that they would carry out his administration’s policies in their various areas.
The president added that even though he had confidence in his appointees, it was important that he monitored them.
President Akufo-Addo, who was speaking to the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II in Kumasi, said apart from monitoring the performance of his appointees, the tour also offers him the opportunity to be abreast with the concerns of the citizenry.
The first gentleman noted that it was important that he got close to the people, whose votes helped him to become president.
