To people who may have issues as to why Kumawood’s poster-boy, Lilwin, has had less recognition concerning Vodafone Ghana Music Awards nominations, despite his numerous hit songs over the years, the actor cum musician says he is not bothered a bit.
Speaking in a chat with Halifax Ansah-Addo on the ‘Best Entertainment Show’ on Okay FM, the ‘Fa Wo Ladder’ hit-maker said he does not work for awards.
“If somebody gives you validation about your work then obviously it feels good but I don’t look forward for any awards.
“I am just concerned about the kind of experience I gain while in the studio, recording or shooting the film. I just don’t care about box office numbers.
“Just being in the studio and recording for the fans is the most important thing for me,” he said..
Born Kwadwo Nkansah, Lilwin has songs like ‘Ayeyi’, ‘Nyame Gye Me’, ‘I don’t think far’, ‘Choices’, ‘Mama Boss Papa’, ‘Anointing’ and many others to his credit.
The musician who has faced many setbacks and backlash in the public space, said even though he wouldn’t be in a position to explain why, he believes there are plans to bring him down.
“Ever since I became popular it has been one attack after the other but the God I serve will protect me from all these things. Most of the things said about me are false but there is no need to explain yourself if you know you are right,” he indicated.
According to him, so far as he is doing the right thing and is at peace with his Maker he doesn’t care what anyone thinks or says about him.
