Newly appointed coach of Kotoko, Maxwell Konadu has called for the support of the fans and stated his delight at coming back to a familiar environment.
According to him, the vociferous supporters of the club should exercise patience during his reign as the head coach.
The former Black Stars assistant coach was announced new coach of the Porcupine Warriors on Monday as he replaces Kjetil Zachariassen.
Zachariassen was sacked for poor performance following the club’s exit in the CAF Confederation Cup about a month ago.
“I am back and I can say that I am very delighted with the development. I thank the management and the supporters for the confidence shown in me. I will do my best but will ask the supporters to exercise patience as we are trying to improve the team.” he said.
However Abdulai Gazale has been named as the main assistant coach.
“For now I will be coming with only one person. I am not going to sack anybody. Abdulai Gazale will be the person I bring on board. We need a lot of people to do the work and we will need everyone’s support.” Konadu told Accra-based Happy FM yesterday.
Gazale holds a CAF License A coaching certificate and that was confirmed by the appearance of his name on the GFA’s official list of License A holders which was published on Monday, December 9.
For Konadu, Gazale and the rest of the Kotoko team, their first test is the replay of the 2019 President’s Cup against Hearts of Oak in Accra on December 15, 2019.i
