I never attacked NAPO – Yamoah Ponkoh
Afrifa Yamoah Ponko, a top member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), in the Ashanti region, has described the Education Minister, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh aka ‘Napo’ as a perfect “gentleman”.
He has accordingly described as a hoax, news reports that he (Ponko) has taken Napo, who is also the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament (MP) for Manhyia South in Kumasi, to the cleaners.
Setting the records straight, a remorseful looking Yamoah Ponko stated emphatically that he has never referred to Napo as a “poor student” during his (Napo’s) school days so the report should be rejected.
“My attention has been drawn to a news report that I have said Napo was my schoolmate and that he (Napo) was a poor student. This is total falsehood”, Yamoah Ponko emphasised in an angry tone.
In a long statement on his Facebook wall, the NDC strongman said “I want to state clearly that I have not and never granted any interview or said anything like that against the gentleman”.
He added that he has never in his life attended any school with Napo as the story tended to suggest.
According to him, he respects and appreciates the brilliant works that Napo is doing for mother Ghana at the education ministry, so he would never stoop low to insult such a gentleman without provocation.
Yamoah Ponko, who was certainly not happy, suspected that some faceless people, who out of malice, decided to write and share the false news on social media platforms to create enmity between him and Napo.
The NDC kingpin wondered why some people could manufacture such fake news in order to create unnecessary tension, noting that he can never insult Napo, who is a gentleman.
