The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Mr Kennedy Agyapong says his influence, power and experience prevented former Chairperson of the Electoral Commission, madam Charlotte Osei from rigging the 2016 general elections for the National Democratic Congress.
According to the lawmaker, his contributions ahead of the 2016 elections made Nana Akufo-Addo to win the presidential elections over former President Mahama.
Speaking to Paul Adom-Otchere on Good Evening Ghana last Tuesday, Kennedy Agyapong said he never trusted Charlotte Osei, reason he made avenues for the NPP to get the results early ahead of the EC declaration.
”I have not said the 2016 election were rigged by the NPP. When I said I knew what the NPP did to win election 2016, I meant the behind the scenes, it has nothing to do with rigging. We were smart, we did our homework well. The system we put in placed to get our results before the EC announcement, that’s what killed them and I can tell you today that, the first meeting was done in my house in New Jersey” he revealed.
Explaining further, the outspoken member of parliament added, “The machines, how to get the system that our results will come in before EC, the first meeting concerning all that planning was done in my house. Joe Anokye was there, Augustine Blay was there as well, the then NPP USA chairman was also there, then another Adisco boy was also there. We planned that and look, we did that to get our results ahead of the EC announcement because if you wait, they’ll do something to the numbers.”
I won’t reconcile with Muntaka
When asked about his colleague member of parliament, Alhaji Mohammed-Mubarak Muntaka concerning their fracas in Parliament some months ago, the Assin Central MP said he would have beaten the Minority Chief Whip had he not been held back by his colleagues after a heated verbal exchange.
When quizzed if he had reconciled with Muntaka since the incident in January 2019, Mr Agyapong said he had not because he does not deal with cheap people.
The controversial MP went on to detail how he would have assaulted the Asawase MP.
“Oh, hell no, I can’t do that. I don’t deal with cheap people. He (Alhaji Muntaka) is not relevant in my life,” he said.
“Oh sure, I would have given him some flying kicks, you will be surprised, I can still kick good… See, people are watching let’s leave this idiot”.
