Hip Hop and Afrobeats artiste Desmond Blackmore known by the stage name D-Black says no matter his level of popularity in the music Industry, he still goes all out in promotion of his new songs and projects.
According to him, he behaves as a new artist aiming to get acceptance of the public when new songs of him are released due to the passion and good prospects he has for the music business.
“I feel when you are releasing music and you want to promote it, treat yourself like a new artist, go all out there and promote it well. I haven’t done this for over 3 years because I was focused on other things but when you are focused on the music, treat yourself like a new artiste, come down to the level and promote your music, it’s your job. Nothing should stop you from going all out to promote your works” he said in an interview on Okay FM’s ‘Best Entertainment Show’ Friday morning.
On whether he lacked managerial skills as to why many of his signees left his record label recently, D-Black responded that, “I did not and do not mange artistes, anyone on the label came with his or her manager. All that I did is to invest and come in with the financing and we made sure that at least within a year, each artiste had some songs out.”
D-Black also said he did not believe the exit of the artistes meant he had failed. “I have not failed, neither has the label. Rather, a lot of lessons have been learnt, they did their best and we also did our part and that is it. Maybe they didn’t have the patient to wait for the fame,” he stated.
Reacting to his new single title Falaa which features rapper Medikal, D-Black said it talks about how to “pick up” women without spending money.
