I signed Mimi’s ‘no pregnancy’ contract for a reason – NaaNa Blu

Ghanaian musician NaaNa Blu, (real name Abigail Mensah) has disclosed her reason for signing Mimi Andani Michaels, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Darling Records 10-year contract which prevented her from getting pregnant.

According to the singer, she signed the said contract then for the fact that, she wanted fame and attention into the music industry.

In an exclusive interview with Halifax Ansah-Addo on the ‘Best Entertainment Show’ last Friday, NaaNa Blu said she signed the ‘no pregnancy’ contract because she was eager to blow into the Industry.

”First of all, when I started doing this whole music thing, I wasn’t really doing it seriously because I didn’t have the means so I was doing it on my own ways. Someone then introduced me to Mimi, I already knew Mimi from the past, right from Big Brother Africa when she was a musician so I was like, oh if she was able to do on her own to be that famous, then she can do for me too.

”I was excited, thought like if I can just sacrifice, so that was a sacrifice. Why don’t I sacrifice and focus on the music and at the right time, because the things we were up to, things she told me she was going to do for me, I was really really excited so I had to because I really wanted to be at that top face.” she said.

Asked if she ever regret signing such a contract, NaaNa Blu replied in the positive describing the experience as a lesson learnt.

”I won’t sit here and say I regret because she(Mimi) has helped me. Everything I have been through sums up to be who I am today so whether it was wrong or right, I’ve learnt from my past so I don’t want to say I regret. Maybe it would have been something else if that had not happened.” she added.

Background

Singer NaaNa Blu, noted for her cover of Kofi Kinaata’s ‘Things Fall Apart’, is reported to have an unexpired contract with Darling Records, a music and artiste management company owned by Mimi Andani of Big Brother Africa fame.

Mimi has said, she signed a 10-year contract with NaaNa Blu in 2016 but NaaNa left the label to sign another deal with Quophimens Music, the music label that formerly handled singer eShun.

She is therefore requesting NaaNa Blu (formerly Esi Cutie) to pay her record label an amount of GHS 500,000 as compensation for breaching her contract or risk being taken to court.
