Swedru-based music artiste, Patapaa, seems to have embarked on a re-branding mission, as he has requested that henceforth, his fans should refer to him as ‘Patapeezy’.
The ‘one corner’ hit maker made this announcement on Facebook in a live video on Sunday, May 27.
According to him, he was letting go of ‘Patapaa’ to adopt the name comedian Funny Face gave him when the latter hyped him after the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards.
“Funny Face gave me good hype and also gave me a new name, Patapeezy. I have left the name Patapaa in South Africa. No one should call me Patapaa again. I’m not Patapaa. Call me Patapeezy; else I’ll take you to court. We have changed the name Patapaa, and now it is Patapeezy,” he said.
Funny Face nicknamed him Patapeezy when he took to social media to mock the hitmaker for wearing an over-sized suit to the 2018 Vodafone Ghana Music.
In a related development, Patapaa had expressed gratitude to international football star, Emmanuel Adebayor, for pledging to cater for bills for his music videos, and also provide him with designer costumes.
Adebayor, who is a friend to Funny Face, had said in a video:’ “Let them talk, don’t mind them, next show… next award you will go there with Dolce & Gabbana suit. I will send them from Italy and take your measurement in Ghana.”
The footballer fell in love with the artiste after viewing a live video of Funny Face dancing to his music.
Patapaa came into the limelight in 2017 after performing his well-known One Corner’ song at the Agona Swedru Akwambo Festival.
The song generated a lot of controversy for its lyrics and the dance style it created.
