I won’t campaign for NPP if Napo is not running mate – Kennedy Agyapong

It is nonnegotiable, it is non-appealable: Kennedy Ohene Agyapong; a maverick politician and successful businessman who represents the Assin Central Constituency in Parliament has said the only condition that would make him join the New Patriotic Party (NPP) 2024 presidential campaign is if Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh is made the Running Mate to Vice President Mahamadu Bawumia the Party’s presidential candidate.

Kennedy placed second in the recent NPP primaries which elected Vice President Bawumia as the 2024 candidate. Some have even suggested that he should be made to partner Dr. Bawumia but he says his pick is Napo else he would not campaign for the party

Kennedy Agyapong, an eyebrows-raising-personality with an amazing street-credibility and cult-following nationwide made this known during an interaction with party folk in Kumasi over the weekend.

He was emphatic that ANY OTHER Minister of Ashanti origin that is made to partner Dr. Bawumia as running mate would make him fold his arms and only observe the party in passivity without campaigning.

According to Kennedy, Napo is the only trust worthy, intelligent and influential person in the party, who has what it takes to attract more votes so he (Napo) should be selected to partner Dr. Bawumia to help the party to retain power.

“Some of our ministers in the NPP, who I helped when they needed help, have been ungrateful to me. Apart from Napo, they are all ungrateful people”, Kennedy Agyapong, angrily stated.

He added that “If Bawumia select Napo as his running mate then I will join the NPP campaign team and campaign for the party to retain power on December 7. Apart from Napo, if you select a different person I won’t campaign for NPP”.

Kennedy Agyapong was speaking when he addressed the NPP delegates in Bantama Constituency in Kumasi.

As a reminder, Napo has been heavily tipped to be selected as the running mate of Dr. Bawumia for the impending presidential election, which is about eleven months away from now.

Endorsement by Kennedy Agyapong therefore speaks volumes that indeed Napo is the best person to partner Dr. Bawumia as running mate for the 2024 elections.

Kennedy would be a strategic campaigner for the NPP 2024 race because he, unlike the other party bigwigs, is not seen as being a part of the executive therefore exempted from the growing anger-against the party in government.

His personal support for the party at all levels over the years whether in government or in opposition has not been in doubt.
