I’ll Resolve Ankaful Impasse – Health Minister Assures
The Health Minister Kwaku Agyeman Manu has assured to amicably resolve the current impasse at the Ankaful Psychiatric Hospital in the Central region.
His comments come after Staff of the Psychiatric Hospital abandoned inmates at the facility Thursday as they began a sit down strike.
The staff of the facility are furious over the refusal of the Health Minster to sack their Medical Director, Dr. Eugene Dordoye whom they accuse of being corrupt and having poor human relations and managerial skills.
An ultimatum was given by the aggrieved staff after they rejected an apology from their boss expired last night.
Secretary for the Psychiatric Nurses at the Ankaful Psychiatric Hospital, Malcom Ali told Starr News that they have also suspended admission of new patients.
But speaking on the issue during a Meet the Press in Accra Thursday, Mr. Agyeman Manu said the leadership of the nurses have been invited for a meeting over the misunderstanding between them and their Medical Director.
Mr. Agyeman Manu described the issue as a personality clash adding his ministry will do everything possible to amicably resolve the issue by Tuesday.
“I believe we can resolve these matters, it is not a matter of service conditions issues, it is a matter of personality clash with the Chief Executive of the place…we will meet with them and I believe we can resolve the matter amicably.”
