I’ll side with NPP in next parliament – Fomena MP breaks silence

Member of Parliament(MP) for the Fomena Constituency Lawyer Andrew Asiamah Asamoah has finally disclosed the side of the political divide he would join in the 8th Parliament.

According to him, although he won the seat as an Independent candidate, he would join the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to form the majority in the next Parliament.

The Lawmaker was humiliatingly sacked from the New Patriotic Party(NPP) because he did not succumb to the political party’s pressure to rescind his decision from contesting as a Independent because he was not treated fairly during the party’s primaries.

He was subsequently sacked from his seat in Parliament because the NPP wrote to Parliament to make him relinquish his seat and was contesting against the political party that brought him to power.

The President of Ghana Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo was emphatic during his tour of the Ashanti region that he will not work with Independent Candidates and that the people should vote aggressively against members of the NPP who have decided to contest as independent candidates.

Lawyer Andrew Asiamah Asamoah contested the election and won convincingly. He polled 12,805 of the votes cast in the just ended election Parliamentary election.

Speaking to the press in Parliament today, Wednesday, December 16, 2020 on the development, Lawyer Asiamah said his constituents have urged him to associate with the NPP.

“I’ve won for the party, I stood for a principle and that principle has been exhibited and that’s all I stood for. I’ve won for the party and I’m going to the party and I hope the party will welcome me and my followers. Almost everybody in the party has congratulated me but whether I’ve been congratulated or not, I belong to the family and I’ll go back to the family and I’ll sit with the family in the eighth Parliament. I made that declaration earlier before the elections. I’ve no place to go”

He denied reports suggesting that he made certain demands before he decided to join the NPP in the 8th Parliament.

“I haven’t made any demands. I’m with my family and any issue of any demand is outside the domain,” he stated.
