“I’ll Work On My Voice” – Emelia Brobbey To Critics
Kumawood actress turned musician Emelia Brobbey says she is never going to stop singing regardless of the negative publicity that greeted her first song.
Emelia went viral on social media after releasing a single, ‘Fame Kɔ’. The song was highly criticised by sections of the public, with some urging her to concentrate on acting.
But speaking in an interview with The New Publisher, Emelia said she is not going to throw away the suggestions she has seen on social media on how to improve her songs.
“So I sang Emelia Brobbey’s voice, that’s what I did. I did me. I sang my voice. If Ghanaians are not happy and they think it’s noise I’ll go do the homework and bring it. In most of the comments, what I read is the voice. So, I know that they are criticising me so that I work on the voice,” she said.
The celebrated actress stated that she has more music in the pipeline. According to her, people who believe she produced noise because of her voice only appreciate other genres of music.
She said she agrees people have individual differences and their choice of music differ hence it is not surprising some people did not like her music.
“I like Highlife, so when I go to a party or a function and they are playing foreign songs, hip-hop or Rythm and Blues, I would be bored and it would sound like noise in my ears. The moment I hear, Daddy Lumba, Kojo Antwi, Sarkodie, Shatta Wale or Stonebwoy, I would get up and dance,” she added.
Emelia Brobbey believes the people who do not like her song appreciate other genres of music whereas her fans appreciate that she gave her all in a “pure Highlife” song.
